I am glad you have decided to drive for Uber. Here are some helpful things to get you started. There are many Uber cars to choose on the platform. Your selection will determine what kind of Uber driver you will be. Congratulations, because you are one step closer to becoming an Uber expert driver in your field. All you have to do is meet a few standard Uber car requirements.

What kind of cars does Uber use?

Here is where I will give descriptions of some cars used by expert drivers in cities below. Before we begin, I would like to list the names of the service options. Vehicles will fall into one or more of these categories when in operation.

Uber Car Requirements 2023

No matter what kind of vehicle you choose to drive, you must fulfill criteria in order to participate in a category. We'll start by discussing the most fundamental choice.

This is a standard 4-door vehicle with a predetermined age from the Uber corporate headquarters. You don't need to look up a customer service number. Driving for UberX just requires a few prerequisites. No matter the Uber service you choose, you must have the following requirements.

So what does it take to get on the road for Uber?
You have to be at least 21 years old.
You have to present an in-state (valid) drivers license.
You have to pass a background check.
You have to have a clean driving record.
You must have at least 3 years of driving experience.

Below are the prerequisites for each vehicle service platform for an Uber car.

UberX Car Requirements

With UberX, the most popular vehicle choice for riders, the majority of newer automobiles are eligible to drive.

Additional conditions

a four-door car with passenger doors that open separately

five seats with seat belts that were factory installed

air conditioning and functioning windows

No box trucks, vans, or other comparable vehicles

No taxis, official vehicles, or other branded vehicles

No rebuilt or salvaged vehicles

No installation of installed seats, seat belts, or BedRyder systems, or any aftermarket seating modifications

Uber XL Car Requirements

(* Uber year model car requirements differ in cities. Be sure to research your city)

With your large vehicle, you can carry more people and earn more money.

Additional requirements

4 Passenger doors on automobile that each open separately

Seat belts and 7 seats that were factory installed

having functional windows and air conditioning

No vans, box trucks, or other comparable vehicles

There will be no taxis, official automobiles, or other branded vehicles.

No salvaged or rebuilt automobiles

No aftermarket seating modifications, such as installed seats, seat belts, or BedRyder systems

Uber Select Car Requirements

This driving option reserved for select cities. Some know this platform as (Plus).

A base model 4-door luxury sedan that will seat 4 passengers, not including the Driver.
Car insurance in-state.
Car plates registered in-state.
Current vehicle registration.
No salvaged cars or marked taxi vehicles.
Must pass Uber vehicle inspection.
2009* year model or newer.
Leather seating mandatory.

Cars approved and accepted to drive on the Uber Select Platform.

Uber Black Car Requirements

Uber Black is the top-tier private and business driving service offered by Uber drivers. There aren't many Uber black cars in cities. The qualifications for providing opulent journeys in the initial Uber black car service.

Keep a star rating of 4.85 or higher
Commercial insurance and registration
Additional document required

7-year-old vehicle or newer
Exterior: black only
Interior: black leather or vegan leather only
Seat at least 6 passengers in addition to the driver
No cosmetic damage or missing pieces

No visible stains

Uber SUV car requirements

You must have commercial car insurance, a TCP, and an airport permit in most cities.
